ONIONS AND CHEESE TOAST

For making this recipe require 30 minutes for 2 servings

Ingredients for caramelised onions:

  • 145g of red onions
  • 60g of balsamic vinegar
  • 45g of olive oil
  • 1tbsp + 2tsp of honey
  • Salt
  • Fresh oregano

Ingredients for toast:

  • 4 slice of sourdough 
  • 120g of Wensleydale Cheese or Cheddar cheese
  • 4tbsp of Grey Poupon Wholegrain mustard
  • Caramelised onions

Method

  • Pre-heat the oven at 170 degrees fan.
  • Heat the olive oil in a lidded frying pan over a low-medium heat and add the red onions. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the lid, reduce the heat to low and stir through the balsamic vinegar, honey, salt and fresh oregano. Cook until the liquid has almost evaporate.
  • While the onions are cooking, slice and toast the bread in the oven for 3 minutes. In the main time start to grate the cheese in a plate.
  • Remove the bread from the oven, turn all the slices and sprinkle the cheese on top of each of them. Toast the bread in the oven until the cheese is melted.
  • When the slices of bread are ready, spread some Wholegrain mustard on top, add the caramelised onions and some fresh oregano, and enjoy!
